History
Our roots can be traced back over 150 years to 1851, when we opened as a teacher training college.
The college evolved over the years and through a series of mergers the Derbyshire College of Higher Education was established in 1983.
University status was awarded in 1992, since when the University of Derby has grown significantly and built a reputation for delivering academic quality underpinned by practical education.
