History

The University of California, Irvine (UCI) was one of three new University of California campuses established in the 1960s under the California Master Plan for Higher Education.

Location and Transport


The city of Irvine is located 40 miles south east of Los Angeles.
The campus is situated in the south western suburbs of Irvine, regular buses run to and from the city centre.
The main campus’ buildings are built around a circle, with Aldrich Park as its centre.
Aldrich Park is planted with over 11,120 trees including 33 species of eucalyptus.
To further emphasise the layout, academic units are positioned relative to the centre, wherein undergraduate schools are closer to the centre than the graduate schools.
