Soon after opening its doors in 1967 La Trobe University quickly established a reputation for exploring the boundaries of the economy, society and the environment in a search for ways to
make the world a better place. Almost 50 years on, La Trobe continues to meet some of the most significant challenges of the 21st century. With a commitment to excellence in bold thinking and innovative teaching and research La Trobe is preparing itself to be future ready. We are committed to taking full advantage of La Trobe’s strengths and making a virtue of our relative youth and agility to develop a distinctive university befitting the vision of our founders and the
needs of future generations.We plan to further enhance the quality of La Trobe’s research
and education, and aspire to rank among the top 12 universities nationally and the top three in Victoria.We will continue to provide a quality education to talented people who may not otherwise have access to a university education.
